Following up from our last staff meeting. Message from Emily Carvalho:
Dear Sokolowski Staff,
I hope this blog post finds you well. I am reaching out to invite you all to participate in a survey.
I am working with a research team from Boston University, and we want to learn more about Massachusetts educators’ thoughts and practices around literacy assessment. Your insights are valuable, and we would greatly appreciate your participation. The Qualtrics survey is voluntary and anonymous.
- Purpose of Research: The purpose of the research is to learn more about Massachusetts educators’ practices and perspectives around literacy assessment.
- Eligibility for the Study: Anyone who is an educator (e.g., classroom teacher, literacy specialist, curriculum director, principal) in Massachusetts who uses literacy assessment can complete the survey.
- Time: The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete.
- Confidentiality of Data: The survey is anonymous, and your anonymous responses will be saved to a secure, password-protected Boston University OneDrive account.
- Consent: By completing the survey, you are consenting to participate. You can also stop the survey at any time, and your responses will not be saved. The survey is anonymous, and your responses will be saved without your name.
Option for Follow Up Interview
At the end of the survey, there is an option to participate in a follow-up Zoom interview (scheduled at a time convenient to you) to expand on the thoughts you expressed in the survey. The interview will take about 45-60 minutes. If you choose this option, you will be asked to provide your name and email address so that we can contact you to schedule an interview. If you choose to participate in the interview, your name and identity will be kept confidential to the research team, with a single, password-protected document linking your name to an identification number. This document will be saved in a password-protected BU OneDrive account. Your name will be kept confidential to the research team and the identification number used in the research.
Will I get paid for taking part in this research study?
You will not be paid to participate in the survey. After completing the entire survey, you can enter to win 1 of 10 $15 Visa gift cards. We will provide you with a $25 Visa gift card to compensate you for your time for completing the interview, should you choose to do so.
