Tech Updates/Hour of Code!

The Hour of Code is here! We have been participating for many years!

The Hour of code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. With just one hour of coding—whether during Hour of Code or anytime throughout the year—anyone can learn the basics of coding. Completing the Hour of Code will expose students to coding before we begin our coding units in Trimester 3.

How to participate in class:

  • Have students spend 60 minutes throughout December using the Hour of Code Choice boards for Gr1-2 and Gr3-5 in your classroom. This can be broken up into four 15 minute sessions, 2 half hour sessions, or the full hour. Slides with more info.

  • Book your Digital Learning Coach to come in and launch the Hour of Code event in your classroom. Click here to book Mercy for any time during December.

  • Tech Specialists will be completing Hour of Code activities with classes during the month of January! Tech classes will be wrapping up research projects and other digital projects during the month of December.

Thanks,

Mercy and Eptee

Sokolowski Weekly Updates (for 11/20/23)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to express immense gratitude and praise to Julie, Nina, and Molly for championing a Thanksgiving dinner for the families in the foundational classrooms. They also organized and collected donations of coats, clothes, and toiletries. There was a bag of toiletries for every family in the foundational classroom. Oh yeah, and when I say organized a dinner, I mean a full-on Thanksgiving feast, with all food donated and served by Celebration Church, where Julie’s father is the pastor. We had a fantastic night! On nights like those, you are reminded how grateful we are to work together and serve the Sokolowski families. Thank you, foundational team for helping kick off the holiday spirit!

Here are some announcements to help you start your week.
