Round 2 starts Monday. I highlighted the row we are on- HERE.

Panorama Survey Opens

The Panorama Fall SEL Survey Window OPENS on Wednesday, November 1. Students in grades 3-4 will take the survey using this link: surveys.panoramaed.com/chelseama. Students will enter their access code (Student ID) to access their survey.

Teachers in grades 1-2 will receive an email to complete their perceptions of students’ SEL skills. More direction and guidance will be shared soon.

Staff SEL will be administered at the next staff meeting or PLT.

Safety Reminder

If you’re ever outside and see an unknown person on school grounds, loitering along our fence watching, trying to get in a door, etc, please:

  1. Trust your instincts. If something or someone looks or feels “off,” don’t doubt yourself, overthink it, or think “oh, someone else will call.” I would rather overreact to protect kids and staff from something that turns out to be a false alarm.
  2. Call for help — call the office, send a kid to the office or security, call or text me or Cam. We don’t need details; just “creepy person on playground pls, come out” will get us there fast.
  3. Communicate with others in the area. If you’re worried, alert other school staff in the area with a quick “That guy shouldn’t be here” or nonverbal signals.
  4. Get kids away. That could mean shooing kids to a different section of the playground. Or it could mean blowing the whistle early and moving inside. Don’t worry about overreacting — if we need to make it up to kids with some extra recess later, we will.
  5. If you feel comfortable, you could engage with the person. A friendly but firm “this area is for school people only during school hours” is usually enough for someone to move along.
  6. Never let non-school personnel through school doors. They must enter through security at the community entrance.

And, of course, If you ever see someone with a weapon or another immediate danger, call 911. “There’s a man with a gun outside the Elementary School playground” will do two things: get the police here immediately AND generate a call back to all four school offices so people inside the building can initiate a lockdown.

Gratitude to Christina Caruso, Julia Hajedemos, Katie Marchesi, Mercy Deleidi, and Matt Messinia!

Safety Drill

The run drill will be Monday, 10/16 @ 10:20.

Please make sure to review the plans- HERE and show students the route.

The streets will be blocked by crossing guards and police.

One change is that the Kelly School will use Shore Collaborative as their evacuation site. That will give us more room at the Sheriff’s Department. Just be aware that the Kelly students will split off. I updated the slides with the correct paths for both schools.

Make sure to reach out with any questions to ensure the kids are safe and we all know what to do.

  • If you have any questions, please reach out to Nate or Cam.

Chorus rehearsals

Chorus rehearsals are starting for 3rd and 4th grade students next week, October 12th and 13th.

Each week at the start of the school day until the week of our Winter concert on Thursday December 14th, students will go straight to the cafeteria (Thursdays for grade 3 and Fridays for grade 4) for chorus rehearsal. Concert week details will be coming as we get closer to the show.

From 8:55-9:00 students will transition to their specialist plus classes. Specialists who are in the rehearsal will assist with the transition.

At 9:30, 3rd grade students can be picked up from their specialist plus classes. 4th grade teachers please assist students in the transition from specialist plus to their regular specialist class that day.

Looking forward to getting this lovely music up and running. Please reach out if you have any questions.
